Just wanted to mention that I have been very hesitant to add and keep the English version of Masnavi on this site because the translation does not come even close to convey the dept of this book. It is very unfortunate that this one of a kind book on spiritual journey was translated in a manner similar to children books.

In many instances hundreds of very deep and meaningful verses were substituted with a few lines of story telling. Numerous mistakes in translation are made from the very beginning to the end. Incomplete personal understanding of Rumi's way of thinking has completely changed the true meaning of many verses.

Granted, this is a very hard book to understand / translate properly by one person, but this task can and should be accomplished in an organized manner by an interested organization supervising this valuable project.

It is a SHAME that so many people, spiritual teachers, spiritual orders, and organizations claim to LOVE Rumi and his work (specially Masnavi), but 800 years later they fail to produce even one single proper translation in any language.

During this past year, many "Rumi lovers" from many countries went to Turkey, or had gatherings in their own communities, and celebrated Rumi's 800 birthday. Many books, CDs, videos were sold because of this event, but no one produced a proper and correct translation for Masnavi.

The responsibility of this task falls on the shoulders of Persians who are able to read and understand these poems, and at the same time are fluent in another language. Imagine all the differences it would have made if Masnavi was translated and read 700 hundred years ago. How many people would not be harmed or killed by their fellow man in wars, or even in the name of religion and God? How much less fighting and hostility would exist between religions and cultures? How much more peaceful would this planet be? How much more meaningful and fruitful our lives would be? How much better could we understand scriptures and God's guidance?

A quick scan in the so called "religious / spiritual user groups" online will reveal how much time and energy is spent arguing irrelevant subjects, which have more to do with ego and self promotion than spiritual guidance.

This is an open invitation to all qualified and interested Persians to help start and finish this project. With your collective time and knowledge this task should be completed in a few year. If there are enough volunteers, each person will just translate a small portion and not a whole lot. If there is a God, you can be assured, you will be rewarded generously for your time and efforts.

This will not be a book / ebook to sell for profit, but a free for all to read and benefit from. I will dedicate part of my site and time to this project. This will be a multilingual project and at least one person will be collecting translations and to supervise each language.
